Ukraine's ombudsman explains Russia route to occupied Oleshky rescue mission
Ukraine's human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets traveled to occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region via Russia as part of a humanitarian mission to rescue local residents, he announced on Telegram on October 29. Lubinets explained his presence in Russia, saying he went to personally monitor the mission's progress and report on its results, urging the public to trust official sources amid provocative social media posts. He noted the negotiations were extremely difficult and that only half the planned journey is complete. The mission follows a ceasefire in Oleshky that began October 27, with no violations reported in 54 hours. Evacuation routes are being demined, with the first aid delivery planned for October 30. About 1,700 residents remain in the city, lacking food and medicine.
