Russia reports downing 613 drones targeting Moscow overnight
Russia reported downing most of 613 drones launched toward Moscow overnight, marking a major attack on the capital, according to state news agency TASS. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defence destroyed 231 drones on approach, with the rest neutralised on distant approaches between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. The assault is the latest in a series of large-scale drone attacks on the Moscow region, following a record September strike where air defence shot down over 1,600 drones. Separately, Russia attacked Ukraine's Kharkiv, damaging an educational institution, Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported on Telegram. The incident underscores escalating drone warfare between the two nations, with both sides intensifying long-range strikes amid the ongoing conflict.
