Ukraine publishes evacuation route from Oleshky via Russian military aircraft
Ukraine's human rights ombudsman has published the evacuation route for civilians from the occupied city of Oleshky, with part of the journey to be completed on Russian military aircraft. The evacuation, scheduled for October 30, will see a Ukrainian delegation and willing civilians travel from Oleshky to Anapa airport in Russia, then fly on a Russian Defense Ministry military transport plane to Gomel, Belarus. The operation follows a temporary ceasefire that began October 27 to address a humanitarian catastrophe caused by the Russian blockade. The agreement was signed by Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and Russian counterpart Yana Lantratova, with evacuation lists coordinated by both Kyiv and Moscow. Lubinets credited US First Lady Melania Trump's coordination for the mission, which comes ahead of US midterm elections.
