Russian drone strike kills 13 at Dnipro railway station in Ukraine
At least 13 people were killed and many more injured when a Russian drone struck a passenger train at a station in Dnipro, Ukraine, in one of the most severe attacks on the country's railway infrastructure in recent months. Ukrainian officials confirmed the strike, which hit a platform where a train bound for Zaporizhzhia was boarding passengers. Governor Oleksandr Hanja reported the death toll, while Mayor Borys Filatov described it as a "tragedy," noting many wounded were taken to hospital. State railway company Ukrzaliznytsia said crowds remained on the platform despite air raid warnings. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack and called for new sanctions against Moscow, asserting it deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure. The incident follows an escalation of Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukrainian urban centers and transport networks in recent months.
