Ombudsman explains why Lubinets took Russia route to occupied Oleshky

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukraine's human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets agreed to travel to occupied Oleshky via Russian territory because no alternative route exists, his office said. The office told Ukrainska Pravda that the only two options are through the front line, which has restrictions, or through Russia. The river route is mined, so the route via Russia was chosen to ensure speed and safety of the humanitarian mission. The ceasefire in Oleshky, brokered by Melania Trump, runs until November 1. Civilians wishing to leave will be transported via Anapa and Belarus to Ukrainian-controlled territory. The delegation departed on October 29.
