Iran announced Sunday it has communicated its conditions to the United States for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route for the global economy and a key point of conflict in the Middle East war. Chief negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the conditions were transmitted clearly via mediators. They include ending the war on all fronts, unfreezing Iranian funds, and suspending the US naval blockade. Iran has blocked traffic through the strait, which previously carried 20% of the world's oil and gas, while the US maintains a blockade on Iranian ports. Iran stated a return to pre-negotiation conditions is impossible until its demands are met.
