Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25, China's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday, at the invitation of President Donald Trump. During the visit, Xi will hold in-depth talks with Trump on major issues concerning China-US relations and global peace and development, according to a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson. The two leaders are expected to meet in Washington on Thursday for their second summit this year, following Trump's visit to Beijing in May. Trade and tariffs, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and the war in Iran are among topics likely to be discussed. The reciprocal visits within six months are of "historic, milestone significance," said spokesperson Guo Jiakun. Trump plans to greet Xi at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday and host a state dinner at the White House the following day.
