Xi Jinping to visit U.S. for talks with Trump on trade and security

China confirmed Monday that President Xi Jinping will visit the U.S. from Wednesday to Friday for talks with President Donald Trump on trade, technology, and global stability. The meeting aims to ease tensions between the world's two largest economies. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun said the leaders will exchange views on major bilateral issues and world peace, with Beijing seeking to strengthen dialogue and manage differences. Trump will personally welcome Xi at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday before their meetings Thursday. The visit occurs amid a year-long tariff truce, unresolved trade negotiations, and concerns over Taiwan and Iran. Vice Premier He Lifeng is already in the U.S. for trade talks, and the leaders discussed creating an AI communication channel.
