US issues Iran travel warning, urges citizens to leave as tensions rise

The United States has issued a fresh travel warning for Iran, urging American citizens not to travel there "for any reason" and asking those already present to leave immediately amid rising tensions and potential escalation across West Asia. The US Virtual Embassy in Iran cited a complex regional security environment, warning of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and other travel disruptions. It advised Americans in the region to exercise heightened vigilance, monitor airports and border crossings, and noted procedures at land borders could change with little notice. The alert follows Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including civilian airports, and warnings from Iranian officials of retaliation against US interests. Washington maintains military pressure on Tehran, and US diplomatic facilities have previously been targeted.
