Zelensky and Trump agree to meet in New York
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump and agreed to meet in New York, where the UN General Assembly takes place in coming days. Zelensky announced the call Sunday in his official Telegram channel, saying the conversation was important and covered many issues, adding the meeting could change a lot. He thanked Trump representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for their September visit to Kyiv, noting they saw the situation in Ukraine. Zelensky said ideas exist on de-escalation measures and fundamental security issues, including energy and food. Kyiv works with the American team and is ready for serious steps. He also thanked Trump for signing a law by late Senator Lindsey Graham strengthening sanctions control against Russia and imposing duties on largest buyers of Russian energy
