Houthis pledge not to attack US ships in Red Sea

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi group has pledged not to attack US ships in the Red Sea, while vowing to continue hostilities against Saudi Arabia, according to a senior Houthi official. Houthi political bureau member Mohamed al-Bukhaiti told the Associated Press that Washington contacted the group after its rapid advance toward the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait. He also warned other nations against joining Saudi Arabia in Yemen's renewed civil war. US President Donald Trump confirmed his administration's contacts with the Houthis, who said they do not seek conflict with the United States. Al-Bukhaiti acknowledged only indirect contacts via Oman as mediator and assured the group does not intend to block the strait, a key global shipping route.
