Xi Visits US for Talks with Trump to Ease Tensions

Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States this week for talks with President Donald Trump, Beijing confirmed Monday, expressing hope the visit will enhance "strategic stability" between the world's two largest economies. The state visit runs from Wednesday to Friday. Washington announced the meeting as an effort to ease tensions over trade, technology, and strategic issues. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said the leaders will have "in-depth exchanges" on major issues, while a US official confirmed Trump will receive Xi at Joint Base Andrews. Trump said he will discuss "almost everything" with Xi. The ongoing trade war remains a key concern, with both sides maintaining a tariff truce for about a year without a permanent deal. The meeting is also shadowed by the US-Iran conflict, Taiwan tensions, and competition over artificial intelligence, though analysts warn expectations for the summit are limited.
