US proposes AI incident alert system in talks with China, Bessent says

The United States has proposed an AI incident notification mechanism to China, aiming to increase transparency between the world's top two AI powers, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Sunday. Bessent announced the proposal after talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York, ahead of a Thursday White House meeting between President Donald Trump and China's Xi Jinping. He said both sides agreed to operationalize a new Board of Trade, first discussed in May.
