Macron and Trump discuss Red Sea and Ukraine in New York meeting

The talks focused on the Red Sea situation and the war in Ukraine. Macron said they discussed better securing oil sites in the Red Sea and the need to help Ukrainian friends "faster and stronger" with interceptor missiles. He noted the talks had a direct impact on French purchasing power. Before the meeting, Macron had promised to speak frankly to steer Trump toward "good decisions" on Ukraine, including maintaining support and increasing pressure on Russia. He also aimed to ease tariff relations and build a peace solution for the Strait of Hormuz.
