Trump says Houthis agreed not to attack US as Saudi Arabia faces strikes

President Donald Trump said Sunday that Yemen’s Houthi rebels have agreed not to attack the United States, even as the group intensifies its campaign against Saudi Arabia, a close US ally. Fox News reporter Trey Yingst quoted the president as saying Washington is in “constant communication with the Houthis” and that the group had agreed “not to fight the United States.” The remarks came as a missile was launched toward Riyadh on Saturday, and the Houthis have captured large areas of Yemeni territory from the internationally recognised government. The US State Department warned the conflict could “escalate rapidly,” advising Americans to reconsider travel to the region. Trump, who is weighing action on Iran, cut short a Camp David weekend to return to the White House. The Houthi offensive has displaced more than 110,000 people.
