Lula's vote jumps 22.6% in Bahia city featured in Nikolas video
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva increased his vote share by 22.6% in the second round of Brazil's presidential election in Luís Eduardo Magalhães, a Bolsonaro stronghold in Bahia that gained attention after a video by congressman Nikolas Ferreira. Lula received 24,739 votes in the runoff, up from 20,173 in the first round, while Flávio Bolsonaro grew just 3.1% to 39,688 votes, reducing Bolsonaro's advantage from 18,323 to 14,949 votes. The city was one of only four in Bahia where Bolsonaro won. Lula won the national election on Sunday with 51.7% of valid votes, reversing a 2.2 million first-round deficit. The video, intended to reduce Lula's lead in the Northeast, drew criticism after some interviewees were revealed to own expensive vehicles.
