Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro ordered to surrender passport after election defeat

noticiassin.com (Spanish) —

Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro said a Supreme Court judge ordered him to surrender his passport on Monday, following his defeat in Sunday's presidential election, over fears he might flee the country. The order from Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who oversaw his father's trial and leads two investigations involving the senator, was delivered by federal police. Flavio said it was based on a comment by his brother suggesting he leave Brazil if he lost, and he vowed to defend himself against what he called intimidation. The sealed order, linked to a money laundering investigation involving lawyer Willer Tomaz, also prohibits Flavio from contacting Tomaz. Separately, the Supreme Court is investigating Flavio over alleged illegal financing of a biopic about his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.
