Bolsonaro leaves Brazil for US after election loss
Brazilian politician Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential election, left for the United States on Tuesday, according to the New York Times. The departure came a day after police requested he surrender his passports amid a money laundering investigation. The newspaper reported that Bolsonaro is being investigated for ties to a Brazilian lawyer accused of laundering over $1 billion through a fraudulent scheme. He is also being probed over funds raised for a documentary about his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, with millions coming from a banker involved in a major corruption case. Bolsonaro denies wrongdoing and has called the probes political persecution. Bolsonaro lost Sunday's election to incumbent leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He conceded Monday but vowed to challenge the result in court. His brother Eduardo Bolsonaro, a Trump ally, has lived in the U.S. since 2025.
