Flávio Bolsonaro arrives in Miami after Brazil election loss and corruption probe
Brazilian senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, landed in Miami on Wednesday after fleeing Brazil through Argentina and Ecuador, following his election defeat and an ongoing corruption investigation. The 45-year-old senator departed with his wife and two daughters, crossing into Argentina via the Tancredo Neves International Bridge before boarding a private charter flight to Guayaquil, Ecuador, and then to Miami. His departure came after Brazil's Supreme Court ordered him to surrender his passports by Tuesday, and one day after the U.S. granted visas to his family. Bolsonaro faces Supreme Court investigations into alleged corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion, and has refused to concede to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who won by about 4.4 million votes. His father also fled to Florida after losing the 2022 election, and President Donald Trump called Bolsonaro and his family "fine people."
