Bolsonaro family arrives in Florida after Brazil election defeat
Flávio Bolsonaro, the unsuccessful Brazilian presidential candidate, arrived in the United States with his family on Wednesday morning, landing in Florida while Brazilian authorities investigate his whereabouts. His departure drew criticism from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who called it "shameful." Bolsonaro, his wife Fernanda, and their two daughters landed at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport just after 9 a.m. ET, shielded from photographers by umbrellas. The Trump administration is issuing visas to the family, and Brazilian authorities had said Tuesday they were investigating the possibility he fled to the U.S. Bolsonaro faces probes into a sports betting matter and a film about his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro. Trump, who claimed without evidence the election was "rigged," has ties to the family, including a May White House visit and a recent arrest warrant for Bolsonaro's brother Eduardo.
