Brazilian Court Bans Flavio Bolsonaro From Leaving Country After Election Loss
Brazilian presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro lost Sunday's runoff election narrowly and has now been ordered by the Supreme Court to surrender his passports, including his diplomatic one, amid a money laundering investigation. The court's Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the order, also prohibiting Bolsonaro from contacting his lawyer Willer Tomaz. Federal police found evidence linking Bolsonaro to a bank account of a company owned by Tomaz, though Bolsonaro denies the connection and called the measure an intimidation attempt. Bolsonaro, who plans to legally challenge Lula da Silva's victory, faces a separate corruption and money laundering probe over film financing. His Liberal Party has since recognized Lula's win, distancing itself from its own candidate's claims of electoral abuse.
