Flávio Bolsonaro shifts strategy, will seek annulment of Lula's ticket at TSE
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro announced he will request the annulment of President Lula's re-election ticket with the Superior Electoral Court, alleging abuse of political and economic power during the campaign. He cited the extended voting hours and unproven claims of mass misinformation. Flávio's shift from seeking election annulment comes after experts noted the weakness of that argument, as votes cast after 5 p.m. were insufficient to change the result. His party, the PL, has officially recognized the election outcome, contrasting with his position. The legal action, an AIJE, could take one to two years to conclude. This same mechanism previously made Jair Bolsonaro ineligible. Separately, Flávio was ordered to surrender his passports amid ongoing investigations.
