Bolsonaro reportedly flees to US after court orders passport surrender
Brazilian senator Flavio Bolsonaro, defeated in Sunday's presidential election, reportedly traveled to the United States after the Supreme Court ordered him to surrender his passport and banned him from leaving the country. Police revoked his passport after he failed to comply with the court order, and two sources told Reuters he then left Brazil for the US, where authorities are expected to issue him and his family visas. The US embassy and his lawyer did not comment, and it is unclear if he will seek asylum. The court order was issued by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who also oversaw proceedings against his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, currently serving a 27-year sentence under house arrest for ties to an attempted coup. Bolsonaro announced he would legally fight the decision, calling it "absurd" intimidation.
