Brazil's Supreme Court Seizes Flavio Bolsonaro's Passport in Money Laundering Probe
Brazil's Supreme Court ordered police to confiscate the passports of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro on Monday as part of a money laundering investigation, escalating tensions a day after he lost the presidential election to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the ruling, which also barred Bolsonaro from contacting lawyer Willer Tomaz, accused of laundering over $1 billion. Bolsonaro, who denies wrongdoing, called the seizure political persecution and said he would seek to disqualify Lula's ticket, alleging disinformation and vote buying. The action follows claims from Donald Trump that the election appeared "rigged," which Vice President Geraldo Alckmin called "completely wrong." Bolsonaro's brother Eduardo, convicted of coercion, remains in Texas, while de Moraes faces scrutiny over reported ties to a banker linked to a separate inquiry.
