Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro Ordered to Surrender Passports in Money Laundering Probe

gazetadopovo.com.br (Portuguese) —

Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro said Monday he was approached by federal police outside his father's home and ordered to surrender his passports and barred from leaving the country, per a Supreme Court order. Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the order in a sealed money laundering investigation targeting the senator and lawyer Willer Tomaz. Flavio claims the decision was based on his brother Eduardo's remarks suggesting he should leave Brazil if he lost the election. Flavio lost the presidential runoff to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva by about 4.4 million votes. He has refused to concede and announced plans to lead opposition to Lula in Congress.
