Flávio Bolsonaro flees Brazil via Argentina, flies to Ecuador en route to US
Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro crossed into Argentina by land and departed on a private jet to Ecuador early Wednesday, according to Argentina's National Directorate of Migrations, with plans to continue to the United States. The agency said Bolsonaro, his wife Fernanda, and daughters Carolina and Luiza entered Argentina at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday via the Tancredo Neves bridge, presenting valid travel documents. They boarded a Baires Fly S.A. Gulfstream G400 jet at 11:30 p.m., which took off from Puerto Iguazú at 12:21 a.m., flew over Paraguay and Bolivia, and entered Peruvian airspace around 3 a.m., avoiding Brazilian territory. The senator was sought by Brazil's Federal Police since Tuesday noon, when a deadline to surrender his Brazilian passport expired. The document was canceled, but Bolsonaro and his family also hold Italian passports issued in 2023.
