Brazil's Top Court Bars Senator Flavio Bolsonaro from Leaving Country
Brazil's Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes barred Senator Flavio Bolsonaro from communicating with lawyer Willer Tomaz and ordered the seizure of the senator's passports, prohibiting him from leaving the country. Both are under investigation in a money laundering probe involving betting platforms. The senator denies wrongdoing, claiming the decision stems from his brother Eduardo's statement that Flavio would flee if the opposition lost the presidential election. Flavio said he was served notice by federal police while visiting his father, who is under house arrest. The investigation began after police found emails indicating Flavio was registered as a "master user" of a bank account belonging to Tomaz's company, Alcazar Holdings. On Friday, Moraes ordered the freezing of up to 6 billion reais in Tomaz's assets.
