Bolsonaro flees Brazil after election defeat, heads to US
Brazilian right-wing politician Flavio Bolsonaro fled the country after his presidential election defeat and is currently on a flight to the United States, according to Argentine newspaper La Nacion citing a source close to him. The escape came after a court ordered Bolsonaro to surrender his passport amid a money laundering investigation, which he denied. Brazil's Liberal Party officially conceded the election on October 27, following incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's victory in the runoff. Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, initially refused to accept the results and planned to challenge them, but later dropped those plans. Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders congratulated Lula, while the White House had delayed its congratulation.
