Flávio Bolsonaro flees Brazil for US after election loss
Brazilian right-wing politician Flávio Bolsonaro has left Brazil following his defeat in Sunday's presidential election and is currently on a flight to the United States, according to US government sources cited by Reuters. The departure comes after Brazilian authorities revoked Bolsonaro's passport and banned him from leaving the country. On Monday, Bolsonaro said a Supreme Court judge had ordered the travel ban, describing it as an attempt to intimidate him, though The Guardian reports the decision relates to a money laundering investigation. Bolsonaro, son of imprisoned former president Jair Bolsonaro, has not conceded defeat and plans to challenge the election result, citing extended voting hours. His party, however, acknowledged the outcome, with incumbent leftist President Lula da Silva winning 51.8 percent to Bolsonaro's 48.2 percent.
