Senator Flávio Bolsonaro lands in Miami after Brazil court orders passport seizure
Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro landed in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday morning with his family, shortly after federal police requested the Supreme Court confiscate his passport over flight risk concerns. Bolsonaro, who lost the presidential election on Sunday, arrived at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport at 10:25 a.m. with his wife and two daughters. The Federal Police made the request the same day, citing risk of escape, despite his earlier statement he would never leave Brazil. The request is part of an investigation into Bolsonaro and businessman Willer Tomaz for suspected money laundering and illegal currency evasion using betting sites. Justice Alexandre de Moraes approved the passport seizure, while Tomaz has reportedly been in Miami since August.
