Flávio Bolsonaro claims Brazil election fraud, declares himself 'true president-elect'
Brazilian senator Flávio Bolsonaro declared himself the country’s “true president-elect” and alleged fraud in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s re-election, vowing to lead the opposition from the United States after arriving there with his family. In a Wednesday statement, Flávio rejected claims he fled Brazil, saying he left to escape political persecution and an authoritarian system. He alleged the October 25 election was marred by fraud, citing Lula’s vote increase between rounds as a “mathematical impossibility,” but provided no evidence. Flávio thanked US President Donald Trump and Argentine President Javier Milei for support, compared himself to Charles de Gaulle, and named senator Rogério Marinho as his candidate for Senate president. Brazil’s Liberal Party had earlier recognized the official election result.
