Flavio Bolsonaro declares himself Brazil's true elected president from US
Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro declared himself the "true elected president" of Brazil on X on Wednesday, claiming his election victory was annulled by an alleged coup orchestrated by President Lula da Silva and the Supreme Federal Court. Bolsonaro lost the presidential runoff and fled to Miami with his family. He thanked Argentine President Javier Milei and US President Donald Trump for support, alleging electoral fraud, political persecution, and a judicial plot against him, while denying any crimes or intent to leave Brazil. His departure came after Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered him to surrender all passports within 24 hours, amid a money laundering investigation involving Bolsonaro and lawyer Willer Tomaz.
