Rubio: Ukraine's Strikes on US-Linked Tankers Must Stop

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Ukraine has unintentionally attacked American-linked tankers and oil shipments multiple times in recent months, calling the issue one that "needs to be resolved." In a Fox News interview, Rubio stated the U.S. "cannot allow this to repeat," though he acknowledged the attacks were likely not intentional. The remarks come amid heightened tensions over Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. On September 22, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces reported hitting 134 vessels of Russia's shadow fleet in the Azov Sea and 166 in the Black Sea over 11 weeks. Earlier, U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory affected global energy markets, while President Donald Trump urged Zelensky on September 20 to halt attacks on Russian refineries.
