Macron slams Trump and Netanyahu's 'unacceptable and absurd' claims about France
French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday strongly criticized "foreign leaders" who are "campaigning at France's expense," following statements by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu about recent violence in France. While Macron said he saw no "visible foreign interference" in the weekend events, he denounced "foreign manipulation of information" that led to "unacceptable and absurd comments" from various figures, including foreign leaders. He accused some of naively repeating AI-generated content and false claims about France being invaded by migrants and Islamists. Trump had described France as "assaulted, looted, and burned by migrants, jihadists, and communists" at a Kansas rally, while Netanyahu claimed France "yielded to the invasion of extremist Islam." Macron added that those speaking ill of France "do not love our country."
