France imposes curfews for minors after protest violence in Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

France imposed or extended curfews for minors in several cities on October 20 following violence and vandalism during student protests. The restrictions target specific areas and are primarily aimed at unaccompanied minors. In Marseille, a curfew for minors runs from October 20-23, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., in designated districts and municipalities. Bordeaux's restrictions, effective until October 26, ban unaccompanied minors from central commercial areas where riots occurred. Lyon extended its curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with similar measures in Lille, Douai, Wattignies, and Denain. Nice's curfew lasts until October 25, and Coulaines bans children under 16 from public places at night. The protests began in late September with student boycotts over teacher shortages, overcrowded classes, and poor school conditions, escalating into a national strike. Paris, without a general curfew, imposed restrictions on gatherings and nighttime presence in certain areas. President Emmanuel Macron accused far-left groups of supporting the violence.
