France imposes nighttime curfews in parts of Paris and Marseille after riots
French authorities have imposed a new nighttime curfew in parts of Paris from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, following weekend riots. A temporary ban on transporting gasoline in containers is also in effect until Thursday. The Paris curfew covers areas around Place de la Republique and Les Halles, with an additional order prohibiting undeclared gatherings from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday near key sites like the Elysee Palace and Champs-Elysees. Marseille has also imposed a curfew for minors in specific areas until Friday. Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu admitted errors in security management during weekend protests, calling the previous deployment "too static" with insufficient officers. He announced a "massive" police plan for Saturday's expected demonstrations, while defending decisions not to cancel gendarmes' long leave.
