France Unrest: Macron Vows Action as Yellow Vests Plan Paris March
France is experiencing unrest after approximately 500,000 demonstrators protested against the high cost of living on Saturday, leading to violent clashes in several cities and the introduction of partial curfews in Paris, Bordeaux, and Nice. President Emmanuel Macron vowed on Wednesday to stop those attempting to incite riots during future protests, while Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu met with union leaders to ease tensions. The "Yellow Vests" group plans a new march through central Paris, and student groups have also called for protests demanding more education investment. The unrest has raised investor concerns, pushing France's 10-year bond yields to their highest level since July 2002. Macron will meet with intelligence officials on Thursday and has accused foreign leaders, including US President Donald Trump, of spreading misinformation, while major French unions have announced a nationwide mobilization for November 5.
