lalibre.be (French) —

French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin announced Tuesday that 123 people have been incarcerated since weekend protests erupted in violence, with around 50 judicial investigations opened. Those jailed are either in provisional detention pending trial or received custodial mandates Monday, following immediate court appearances. Darmanin noted many received prison sentences with immediate incarceration, including short terms, with most hearings scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday. The minister said arrestees were 95% male and 70% adults, describing them as "looters" or attackers of police. He added they included immigrants, foreigners, and fully integrated French citizens.
