Campanian truckers vow strike until Oct 27 as talks with government stall
Truckers in Campania say no agreement has been reached with the government, and their strike will continue until October 27. Vincenzo Parisi, a representative for Naples and Caserta, described the situation, including empty supermarket shelves, as resembling wartime conditions. Parisi met with Minister Matteo Salvini in Milan to discuss rising diesel costs and highway tolls. The government confirmed the disbursement of 300 million euros in credits for 2025, with payments starting tomorrow, but no immediate financial relief for companies was secured. A new meeting is scheduled for October 27. The strike will continue in Campania, Molise, Calabria, and Basilicata. While Parisi says he will urge drivers to ease the protest to avoid paralyzing Italy, he noted that the majority of truckers support continuing the action.
