French police arrest suspect in Limoges town hall fire

French police have arrested a man suspected of involvement in setting fire to the historic town hall of Limoges during weekend riots. Special forces detained the suspect in a town near Limoges, according to the public prosecutor's office. French media report the suspect is a known left-wing extremist flagged as a security risk, previously known to investigators for violence against officials. The landmark building was severely damaged by arson on Saturday. The arrest follows nationwide protests against high living costs, mostly peaceful, but marred by violence the government attributes to left-wing extremists. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu is expected to visit Limoges on Friday.
