France to deploy massive security for Saturday protests

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced "massive" security measures for protests planned for Saturday, following violent unrest on October 17. Lecornu acknowledged that police presence during the October 17 protests, which saw widespread riots across France, was "too static and not mobile enough." Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said army units would be mobilized to guard the October 24 demonstrations. The October 17 protests against rising prices and social issues led to over 2,000 arrests nationwide, looting in Paris, and a government-imposed curfew.
