Drones strike Kuibyshev refinery in Russia's Samara region, sparking large fire

Drones attacked the Kuibyshev oil refinery in Russia's Samara region overnight on September 22, causing a large fire at the facility. Local residents reported explosions preceded by the sound of drones, with videos showing intense flames and thick smoke. Regional authorities and emergency services have not yet commented on the attack's consequences. The Kuibyshev refinery, part of Rosneft, produces motor and diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, and bitumen, with a capacity of about 7 million tons of oil annually. The plant has previously suspended operations due to drone damage to primary distillation units. Other refineries in the Samara hub, including Syzran and Novokuibyshevsk, have also been regularly targeted.
