Poland returns scrambled jets to base after Russian activity in Ukraine

Poland has returned its combat aircraft to base after they were scrambled due to Russian military activity in Ukraine, with the country's operational command confirming the air operation has ended. The Polish Operational Command stated that air defense and radar systems have resumed standard operations, while acknowledging that no violation of Polish airspace occurred. The aircraft were deployed on September 17 as a preventive measure following Russian strikes on Ukraine. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on September 15 that army engineering units were sent to the Ukrainian border to strengthen infrastructure, and Poland has previously stated its readiness to close its border with Russia.
