Russia strikes Zaporizhzhia after Ukraine's 1,000-drone weekend assault

Russian drones struck the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Monday, wounding five people, a day after Kyiv launched over 1,000 drones at Russia. The attacks highlight the lack of diplomatic progress more than four years into the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the strikes hit apartment blocks, a university, and a shopping mall, with Russia also targeting nine other regions. General Assembly, where Zelensky expects to meet U.S. President Donald Trump. Trump called the war "ridiculous" and noted Russian refineries were hit. Drone incursions have also entered Moldovan and Romanian airspace, unnerving regional leaders.
