Ukraine intercepts 60% of Russian jet drones as Russia adapts attacks to weather

Ukraine's air defense intercepts approximately 60% of Russian jet-powered attack drones, according to Yurii Ihnat, head of communications for the Ukrainian Air Force. Russia has launched about 7,700 such drones total, including 1,900 in September alone. Ihnat stated Russia is adapting tactics by factoring in weather conditions along flight routes and near targets, as fog or cloud cover complicates Ukrainian air defense operations. For comparison, Russia launched 2,800 jet drones during all of July. Ukraine is testing several interceptor drone models to counter these threats, with President Zelenskyy reporting successful test strikes on Shahed drones. The Defense Ministry recently codified the Alexa Spatium interceptor, though mass production of such countermeasures is not yet underway.
