Russia launches massive overnight missile and drone attack on Ukraine

Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine on Tuesday, September 22, using dozens of missiles and 212 drones, with Ukrainian air defenses intercepting most targets, according to the Air Force. The attack included Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M, S-400 and KN-23 ballistic missiles, four Kalibr cruise missiles, eight Banderol and Dan-T munitions, and Shahed and Gerbera drones. By 08:00, defenses had downed one Kalibr, all eight Banderol and Dan-T, and 177 drones, with strikes recorded at 22 locations. The main targets were Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad and Poltava regions. Industrial sites in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad were hit, killing two people and injuring six in Dnipro, where a rescue operation continues. The attack is ongoing with several drones still in the air.
