Ukrainian Drone Attack Halts Moscow Refinery Operations

A Ukrainian drone attack on September 20 halted oil processing at the Moscow Refinery, owned by Gazprom Neft, after fires broke out on both primary processing units. According to three Reuters sources in the oil industry, drones fell on the refinery's territory, igniting fires at both primary refining units. The sources said repairs and resumption of operations could take several weeks. The damaged AVT-6 unit processes 21,400 metric tons daily (53% of capacity), while the EURO+ unit handles 18,800 tons (47%). The refinery processed 11.6 million tons in 2024, producing gasoline, diesel, and bitumen. Its fuel has not been listed on the St. Petersburg exchange since September 21.
