Ukraine launches largest drone attack on Moscow as Russian elections end

Ukraine launched its largest-ever drone attack on Moscow on Sunday, the final day of Russia's parliamentary elections, killing two people and wounding 20 in the wider Moscow region, according to local officials. Moscow's mayor described the wave of drones as the biggest assault on the capital since the war began, with damage reported at an oil refinery supplying the city and a residential building. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the attack used domestically made missiles and drones to target oil and logistics facilities, aiming to pressure Russia's economy and push President Vladimir Putin toward peace negotiations. The attack coincided with Russia's wartime election, which is virtually devoid of opposition and all but certain to cement Kremlin dominance, including votes in illegally annexed Ukrainian regions. Ukraine also reported Russian strikes that killed two children and their mother in Kyiv, and a separate drone attack that killed a clergy member at a Kherson monastery.
