Russia and Ukraine trade overnight strikes on oil and energy sites

Russia launched a massive overnight missile and drone barrage across Ukraine, striking oil, gas, and industrial facilities, killing at least four people, Ukrainian officials said Tuesday. The attack occurred as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the US. The strikes targeted a key oil and gas facility in the Poltava region and industrial sites in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad, while an attack in the Chernihiv region cut power to nearly 100,000 consumers. Ukraine's air force reported the barrage included ballistic and cruise missiles and 212 drones. Ukraine responded with its own drone strikes inside Russia, killing one person in the Samara region, home to oil refineries. Russia's defence ministry said it destroyed 297 Ukrainian drones overnight. The exchange follows US President Donald Trump's concerns about both sides targeting fuel infrastructure.
