Saudi air defenses intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile targeting Riyadh on Saturday, Sept. 19, the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen confirmed. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said the missile was destroyed before reaching the capital, calling the attack a continued escalation by the Houthis that deliberately targeted civilians in the city of over 8 million people. Al-Maliki added that Houthi attempts to strike Baish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu were also thwarted, and the Coalition reserves the right to respond under international humanitarian law.
